This course prepares the student for the individual oral component of the IB Language and Literature (SL/HL) course.
Course Overview
This course will focus on preparing students for the IB English A Individual Oral (IO) assessment. Students will develop their skills in analyzing both literary and non-literary texts, learning how to identify key themes, literary techniques, and contextual factors. The course will guide students through the process of selecting and analyzing extracts from their chosen texts, ensuring they can effectively connect their analysis to a global issue.
The course will also provide structured practice in oral presentation skills, helping students to communicate their analysis clearly and confidently. By using real IB assessment criteria, students will learn how to structure their presentations to meet the expectations of the IO.
The student will have the opportunity to incorporate their individual school set texts into their oral presentation. These texts will be analyzed in detail, ensuring a deep understanding of the material.
This course is best suited for students preparing for the IB English A Individual Oral, offering a comprehensive approach to both analysis and presentation skills.
At the end of the course the student:

Will be able to extract, evaluate, and analyze the effect of structure, key literary and non-literary devices in a variety of texts. They will also be able to apply contextual and textual conventions across genres, cultures, and time periods to critically interpret various works, ensuring alignment with IB criteria.

Will be able to focus, develop, and elaborate their analysis, using relevant quotes, precise language, and discourse markers to structure ideas and present relationships effectively, while meeting the expectations of the IB Individual Oral assessment.

Will have a clear understanding of the requirements and rubric for the Individual Oral, as well as the coursework tasks required throughout the course. The student will have developed skills in verbal presentation, analysis, and engagement with texts, equipping them to confidently meet the IB criteria.
Express Course
Express Course
Our express courses are abridged versions of our standard courses.
They are best suited as revision courses for those who have a strong grasp of the subject and looking to achieve the highest grades.
They have a run time of 6 hours, and each lesson is for an hour.
Weaker students might want to use the express course as an overview and then follow that up with ad- hoc tuition on weak areas.
Standard Course
Standard Course
Our standard course, with a run time of 12 hours, is best for those who need more guidance and/or have little to basic understanding of the subject/work.
The course progresses at a moderate pace and all aspects of the subject/work are covered in depth.

Express Course
We recommend scheduling your crash course lesson hours as following:
- 1 week revision crash course - 6 sessions (1 hours daily from Monday- Saturday)
- Weekend revision crash Course - 3 sessions (2 hour sessions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
Standard Course
We recommend scheduling your standard course lesson hours as following:
- 1 month course- 8 sessions (1.5 hour sessions, 2 times a week)
- 3 week course- 8 sessions (1.5 hour session, 3 times a week)
