This course guides students for the Extend Essay.
Course Overview
This course will focus on guiding students through the process of researching, planning, and writing the IB English A Extended Essay. Students will develop the skills necessary to conduct independent research, critically engage with their chosen texts, and construct a well-structured, analytical essay that meets IB criteria. Emphasis will be placed on formulating a clear research question, developing a focused argument, and using appropriate literary analysis techniques to support the thesis.
The course will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the expectations for the Extended Essay, from the initial research phase through to the final draft. Students will be taught how to engage with primary and secondary sources, organize their findings, and incorporate relevant literary theories and critical perspectives. Regular feedback and guidance will ensure that students refine their writing and analytical skills throughout the process.
A variety of IB texts will be explored, and students will be encouraged to work with their own chosen texts. These will be analyzed in-depth, allowing students to engage with them critically and creatively to develop their extended essay topic.
This course is best suited for students who are beginning the Extended Essay process, providing them with the tools, strategies, and support needed to produce a high-quality final essay.
At the end of the course, the student:

Will be able to conduct independent research, extract, evaluate, and analyze key aspects of literature from a range of sources. They will apply literary devices, critical perspectives, and theories, integrating them effectively into their argument, in line with IB criteria.

Will be able to develop a focused and coherent research question, ensuring that their essay is well-structured, with a clear thesis and logically developed argument. The student will use relevant quotes, precise language, and academic conventions to present their analysis.

Will have a thorough understanding of the Extended Essay rubric and requirements, and will have gained skills in academic writing, critical thinking, and independent research. The student will be prepared to meet the expectations of the IB Extended Essay assessment.
Express Course
Express Course
Our express courses are abridged versions of our standard courses.
They are best suited as revision courses for those who have a strong grasp of the subject and looking to achieve the highest grades.
They have a run time of 6 hours, and each lesson is for an hour.
Weaker students might want to use the express course as an overview and then follow that up with ad- hoc tuition on weak areas.
Standard Course
Standard Course
Our standard course, with a run time of 12 hours, is best for those who need more guidance and/or have little to basic understanding of the subject/work.
The course progresses at a moderate pace and all aspects of the subject/work are covered in depth.

Express Course
We recommend scheduling your crash course lesson hours as following:
- 1 week revision crash course - 6 sessions (1 hours daily from Monday- Saturday)
- Weekend revision crash Course - 3 sessions (2 hour sessions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
Standard Course
We recommend scheduling your standard course lesson hours as following:
- 1 month course- 8 sessions (1.5 hour sessions, 2 times a week)
- 3 week course- 8 sessions (1.5 hour session, 3 times a week)
